ELY Canoe the Wye Challenge 2026

My Story
Here is some scary stuff, I have been encouraged to take part in the Canoe the Wye Challenge to raise money for The ELY Memorial Fund. Let's just say 30 odd people at a breakfast event voted I should join the team...nothing like peer pressure!!
Sooo, this summer, I'll be paddling 8 miles along the River Wye and then hiking a further 6 miles up the Symonds Yat Gorge as part of a team of 12 supporters taking on this challenge together.
While the scenery in the Wye Valley will be incredible, the day itself will be a real test of endurance, teamwork and determination. Every mile paddled and every step climbed is in support of something far more important.
The challenge is raising funds for the ELY Memorial Fund, created to honour Emma's memory and ensure her legacy continues by supporting families through unimaginable loss and promoting road safety through young driver education.
Emma, (the daughter of my friend Ange who set up the charity) was killed in a road traffic collision and the charity now helps families with funeral costs in Herefordshire, when young drivers are tragicially killed in a car accident. She also works tirelessly to raise awareness of safe driving for youngesters and campaigns in parliment.
I've committed to doing my part to help the team reach our overall target of £6,000 and any support you can give would mean a huge amount.
If you're able to donate, no matter the amount, it will help make a real difference and support the work of the fund in Emma's name.
Thank you so much for your support.
If you're unable to donate, sharing this page with others would also be hugely appreciated.
